Privacy Policy
This privacy policy applies to the Chatcam app (the “Application”) for Android, provided by Mheek-Apps (the “Service Provider”). The Application is intended for use “AS IS”.
Summary
Chatcam is on-device. Chat contacts, message history, photos, videos, and app settings
are stored locally on your device. The Service Provider does not operate
a Chatcam user account and does not receive your chats or media as part of normal app use.
The Application does not request the INTERNET permission and includes no in-app analytics SDK.
Data stored on your device
Depending on how you use the Application, it may store on your device:
- Chat contacts (built-in and custom names) and chat message history in a local Room database
- Photos and videos you capture, saved to app storage and the system media library under a Chatcam folder
- App preferences (for example disclosure acceptance, optional biometric lock enabled)
Camera preview, photo capture, and video recording use Android CameraX on your device. Audio is recorded only when you capture video. Biometric unlock, if enabled, is handled entirely by Android; Chatcam does not store fingerprint or face templates.
Chat and media data are excluded from Android backup rules configured for the Application. If you uninstall the Application or clear its data, local data may be permanently deleted unless you previously exported or shared files yourself.
Network use
Internet access is not required for core use. The Application may open this website (privacy policy, terms) or your email app when you tap related links in Settings. The Application does not upload chats, contacts, or captured media to servers operated by the Service Provider.
If you use the system share sheet to send a photo or video, the destination app or service you choose handles that transfer under its own privacy policy.
Permissions
Depending on features you use, the Application may request:
- Camera — preview and capture photos from chat threads
- Microphone — record audio when capturing video
- Storage / media (legacy on older Android versions) — save captured files where required by the OS
- Biometric / device credential — optional app unlock only
While the camera is active, the Application shows in-app indicators (for example a “Cam on” chip, a small preview, and a recording badge when video is recording).
Responsible use
Chatcam is intended for personal use on devices you control. Do not use the Application to record other people without their knowledge and consent where required by law. You are responsible for how you use the camera and for complying with applicable privacy and recording laws.
Children
The Application is not directed at children. Do not use the Application if you are not allowed to do so under applicable law.
Data sharing and sale
The Service Provider does not sell your chat or media data. Data leaves your device only when you choose to share files through the system share sheet, open Legal links, or when another app you use accesses media you saved to shared storage.
Third-party services
- Google Play — app distribution (when installed from Play Store)
Those services have their own privacy policies.
Security
We design the Application to keep your data on-device. No method of electronic storage is 100% secure. Protect your device with a lock screen and consider enabling the optional biometric app lock.
Your rights and choices
Because most data stays on your device, you can delete it by removing items in the gallery, clearing app data, or uninstalling Chatcam. For privacy questions about the Application, contact mheek_apps@pm.me.
Changes
